Our Magic Faraway Tree c1820
This amazing Cyprus Tree, Cupressus macrocarpa is estimated to be around 200 years old. We are very blessed that the lower limbs have never been cut. I have been told this is how they grow in a forest. Former pupils have recalled how they climbed in the tree. We call her the ‘Magic Faraway Tree’. A nod to my PNG childhood, where Enid Blyton was my favourite author and is responsible for all my imagination!

Jaspers Brush School
Operated from 1897 – 1968 Children arrived at school by Horse & Cart from surrounding Dairy Farms. In the 1980’s the Schoolhouse was renovated into a Residence and the surrounding Grounds were landscaped. The property was called ‘Woodbyne’. In the 90’s the Schoolhouse operated as a restaurant. In 2012 The School House underwent major restoration and the surrounding Gardens were landscaped bridging the past and present. Jaspers Old School Bar and Colonial Verandah together with the Tropical Garden evolved.

Headmasters Residence
A weatherboard home was bult for the Headmaster who resided on-site. This building was renovated in the 1980’s to become a Gallery and Guest Houses were added.
In 2012, this building was completely gutted and restored to its now purpose built Guest House Lobby, Dining Room and Day Spa.

The Carriageway & Fountain
The foundations for the red gravel Carriageway and Fountain were built in 1980 and the formal hedge planting followed. The Buxus and Portuguese Laurel Hedging remain the same to this present day.

The Rill
In any formal garden there needs to be a focal point. The Rill was established in the
mid 80’s together with the planting of the Pear Trees. The Rill was renovated in 2012 and now stands proudly as the centre piece of the Formal Gardens. A series of avenues and Garden Rooms were also established using a mix of Native & European Species such as Rhododendrons, Forest Pansies, Azaleas, Camellias and Hydrangeas. These plantings are now well established and add to Jaspers inherent Magic.
1980
The Driveway
Building a driveway into a commercial property is no easy task. This driveway must bear the load for cars, delivery trucks and heavy machinery. Reforestation of the driveway commenced in the mid 80’s. In 2012 the driveway was completely overhauled and reinforced to ensure the smooth operation of Jaspers Wedding Venue and the Reforestation project is now complete.

The Ceremony Courtyard
The Ceremony Courtyard was built in 2012. Originally this part of the Garden was used for Alfresco Dining when Woodbyne operated as a hotel in early 2000. Hedges were moved, grass was lifted and a bedrock of gravel and cement were laid. For sustainability, pebbles were used to replace the grass. The School Bell Tower was built in 2016 and the Brass Bell was restored by Halliday’s of Rozelle who made the bell in 1897. The rest is History.
